microneedling

Microneedling, also called Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), is a  non-surgical breakthrough skin treatment for banishing acne scars, wrinkles and fine lines. It uses thin, microscopic needles to activate production of collagen and elastin, the two compounds primarily responsible for beautiful, youthful looking skin. Microneedling patients enjoy the fullness and volume that is achieved without any incisions, anesthesia or downtime.

FAQ

frequently asked questions about microneedling

Microneedling is considered effective in treating minor scarring related to acne, scars, stretch marks, and maturing skin. You may notice brighter, firmer skin, too. Ideal results are achieved after multiple sessions but may require a long-term maintenance plan. Microneedling is far more effective than at-home rollers.
Our microneedling treatment is perfect for anyone who wishes to improve their skin’s youthfulness and vitality. Microneedling is safe and effective for all skin types and may benefit clients with clogged pores, acne scars, blemishes, and marks, clients with hollowness in the face, clients who don’t suffer from skin infections or dermal conditions, and clients wishing to improve the elasticity of their skin.
Most dermal treatments need to be customized to suit different skin types to prevent chances of pigmentation and marks. However, this is not the case with microneedling. The microneedling procedure follows the same principles of acupuncture and is designed to suit all skin types including dark skin. This treatment does not use any chemical peels or topical ointments to provide the desired result. Instead, a device with tiny needles is used to make tiny punctures on the skin, promoting the skin to rejuvenate and heal itself through the production of new collagen and elastin. When fresh collagen and elastin are produced by the skin, sun damage, pigmentation, acne scars, and stretch marks are naturally healed, and skin appears more youthful.

Microneedling is a minimally invasive, non-surgical treatment that offers long-lasting results within days. Since no chemicals are used to treat the skin, chances of allergies, infections, injuries and skin damage are minimal.

Considering that the microneedling procedure is a cosmetic treatment, patients should be aware that they may experience minor swelling, bleeding and bruising post-treatment. These symptoms will reduce and disappear within a few days after the procedure.

Your skin may feel raw and itchy for a few hours after the treatment. This occurs as a result of the swelling in the open pores of the skin. The pores will close within 90 minutes of the treatment, significantly reducing the swelling and itchiness on the face. Your skin should go back to normal within 12 to 48 hours after the procedure.

Microneedling clients may experience some redness as a result of the procedure, comparable to a sunburn. This usually heals within the first week and is no cause for alarm. Proper aftercare products will remedy any discomfort, and makeup can be worn to help conceal any lingering pinkness. It’s important to avoid the sun after your treatment, and to wear sunblock.
Results will begin to show within 7-10 days in the form of a fresh lovely glow, and the skin tone may continue to improve for up to six months, as new, healthy skin cells are produced.
Microneedling can be repeated more than once, as determined by the practitioner. Typically we suggest six to eight sessions four to six weeks apart, however, with some clients we find that as few as three to four treatment may be enough to dramatically improve the look and feel of the skin. The number of sessions is entirely dependent on the specific condition of each clients skin and their desired result.
Most clients find that Microneedling isn’t very painful, however, depending on your pain threshold, you may experience minor pain. You may opt to apply a topical numbing cream prior to your appointment to decrease any chances of discomfort.

dermal fillers + injectables

Contour, restore volume, and give a natural-looking fullness to the jaw, cheeks, lips and more. The face naturally loses volume thanks to gravity and a loss in natural collagen. Fillers injected below the skin surface can correct age-related volume loss. They work to restore and plump up volume, smooth the appearance of lines and wrinkles, or give lips and cheeks a naturally fuller look.
Botox and dermal fillers are all categorized as wrinkle-reducers, however, their action in dermal tissue is completely different. Botox is the wrinkle-reducer that is commonly used in the uppermost areas of the face where wrinkles develop as a result of facial movement. Botox is ideal for these dynamic wrinkles because it blocks certain chemical signals from nerves that cause muscles to contract. The most common use of Botox injections is to relax the facial muscles that cause frown lines and other facial wrinkles. Dermal fillers, on the other hand, adhere to water molecules in the subcutaneous tissue beneath the epidermis to plump superficial layers of the skin.
Dermal fillers are synthetic or naturally-occurring substances injected into the body’s soft tissue at different depths to lift, plump, and contour the face, hands, lips and other body parts. Dermal fillers, or soft tissue fillers, are products made from substances such as hyaluronic acid, calcium hydroxyapatite, poly-l-lactic acid, polymethyl methacrylate or collagen. These substances can reduce the appearance of wrinkles and creases, raise depressed scars, and add contour to the lips and cheeks. Fillers are long-lasting but temporary solutions. Products are selected based on each client’s preferences and desired outcome.

Dermal fillers are long-lasting, with results visible for up to two years, however, they degrade over time. Treatment may be repeated every few months to years to soften the signs of aging.
Dermal fillers and Botox treatment can and often are administered during the same visit. Because each product works differently in the skin, the two can be a powerful combination to achieve beautiful, natural-looking rejuvenation.
Dermal fillers are generally safe but as with any treatment, there are potential side effects. The risks include (but are not limited to): swelling, firmness, lumps, pain, redness, bruising, itching, and vascular compromise. This occurs in less than 1% of clients. Talk to your doctor about any medications you are taking as these can increase the risk of bleeding or infection.
If you receive filler treatment with a hyaluronic acid product, such as Juvéderm or Restylane, you may have some or all of your filler dissolved. Treatment to dissolve hyaluronic acid dermal fillers involves injections of an enzyme called hyaluronidase.

pdo thread lift

PDO Threads also known as Thread Lift treatments, are non-surgical and minimally invasive treatments that mimic the results of a facelift without the cutting, scarring, or anesthesia typically associated with the traditional surgical procedure. These dissolvable threads give our client’s the lift and youthful appearance they desire for months at a time.

Once in place, the PDO thread then has chemical reactions within the sub-dermal tissues of your skin to stimulate the body’s natural production of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid. Over time, the threads are fully absorbed into the body.

FAQ

frequently asked questions

PDO Threads are a type of non-invasive and non-surgical cosmetic treatment that helps reverse the visible signs of aging on the face and neck.  A versatile cosmetic tool, PDO threads are placed beneath the skin’s surface to lift, rejuvenate and volumize the skin. They are made from a safe, absorbable and biocompatible material.

Upon placement into the skin, they lift and tighten the skin tissue into a more youthful position resulting in an instant lift. Once in place, the PDO thread has a chemical reaction within the sub-dermal tissues of your skin to stimulate the body’s natural production of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid. Over time, the threads are fully absorbed into the body, extending the duration of your results while preserving a natural look.

The PDO threads can be used to treat nearly any area of the face where a patient might desire lifted, tightened skin including:

  • Brows
  • Forehead wrinkles and lines
  • Nasolabial folds
  • Sagging jawline or jowls
  • Drooping cheeks
  • Chin and neck

For the right candidate, the Thread Lift can provide a pleasing, natural rejuvenation of the face with the benefit of no general anesthesia, rapid recovery and very minimal cost compared to a facelift or a necklift. Thread Lift may be combined with other, more minor surgical procedures, such as Botox, Injectable Fillers, microneedling or skin resurfacing lasers.

Ideal candidates for thread lifts include those with minimal signs of aging who need just a small lift. Good candidates are those who are starting to see some droopiness of the brow, cheeks, jowls and/or neck and would like to see a lift effect, but do not want the risk, scars, or recovery of a real browlift, facelift, or necklift operation. Or for those who do not wish to undergo a surgical facelift or necklift for various reasons such as not wanting a prolonged recovery of a stand facelift or do not wish to spend money on an expensive facelift.

The areas to be treated will be numbed with topical as well as local anesthetic. The areas to be treated are then marked. The threads are then inserted under the skin in precise locations using a small hollow needle. The skin is immediately lifted and tightened as the PDO threads are placed. This requires no cuts or incisions. Once the desired results are achieved, any excess threading will be removed to produce a smooth and natural appearance. The PDO thread treatment takes up to one hour to perform.
The results of this treatment are immediate. On the same day as your treatment, you will notice that your skin has fewer fine lines and wrinkles, and you will have a more youthful-looking visage. The results of this treatment will continue to improve as the threads interact with your body’s natural regenerative abilities to increase latent amounts of skin-supporting proteins and acids in the skin.
Pain can be usually managed with acetaminophen (Tylenol) and/or ibuprofen (Advil). We recommend avoiding strenuous activity for few days. After receiving PDO threads, you may experience some minor sensitivity, swelling or redness in the treatment area, however, these side effects should fade within a few weeks. There is very little downtime required after your PDO threads are inserted. You will be able to resume most normal activities immediately after your appointment, and we will provide you with further instruction on caring for your skin during the days following your treatment.

Since PDO thread lifts are non-invasive, there isn’t a lot you need to do to prepare. However, there are some precautionary measures you can take to ensure the best results from your treatment. Here are things you should avoid one to two days before treatment:

  • Alcohol
  • Ginko
  • Omega fish oil supplements
  • Chinese medicine
  • Vitamin E
  • High-intensity workouts
  • Steam rooms and saunas
There are not a lot of special after-care requirements to this treatment. However, you should hold off on any dental treatments for the first two weeks after your PDO thread lift. Holding your mouth open for an excessive period of time can affect the results of your treatment. Moreover, you’ll want to sleep on your back for the first couple of weeks. This ensures you don’t put too much pressure on one side of your face.

The cost of PDO threads varies depending on your treatment goals and the number of PDO threads needed. We will be happy to provide you with a more detailed estimate of your treatment cost and answer any questions you may have during your complimentary consultation. Be sure to stay up to date with our latest specials and memberships for the best treatment prices.

The cost of Laser Hair Removal is different for everyone. Our consultants will work with you to personalize a treatment plan that fits your needs. Everyone’s a little bit different. And so is their hair. We can remove hair from almost any area of the body, but it’s important to come into our location for a complimentary consultation and discuss exactly what your needs are.

The risks of Laser Hair Removal are very low, as the lasers are designed to remove hair quickly and efficiently. It’s a lunchtime procedure with no recovery time. As with every procedure, our staff walks each guest through a detailed consent form that explains all the possible risks.

It depends on the person, although most men and women need a series of six to eight treatments, each spaced about four to eight weeks apart, for optimal results. Although laser hair removal is permanent, in some cases, it’s possible to have new hair growth. This is most common during periods of hormonal fluctuations, particularly around pregnancy. If you have new hair grow in the treated area, you can come back for touch-up treatments as needed.

It’s normal to feel some slight discomfort, in sensitive areas (like your underarms), but you shouldn’t be in pain. Most men and women describe laser hair removal feeling like tiny rubber bands flicking your skin.

It’s helpful to apply a topical numbing cream, which you can get over-the-counter from your local pharmacy, before heading in for your treatment. This way, your skin is thoroughly numbed by your appointment. As an alternative, you can apply an ice pack which will have a similar effect.

Keeping regular appointments is important. When scheduled regularly, most find that the process becomes less painful. If you don’t keep up with your appointment schedule, however, the hair growth cycle will be disrupted, and you’ll have to start from scratch. When this happens, removal may be more painful since we’ll be starting the entire process over again.

  1. Shave 24 hours prior to your appointment.
  1. No makeup/lotion/deodorant on the day of your appointment (on treatment area).
  2. Stay out of direct sunlight for at least 5 days prior to your appointment (& 5 days after).
  3. Do not use self-tanner or spray tan products for at least 2 weeks before your treatment to avoid potential injury.
  4. No alcoholic beverages 24 hours before your treatment .
  5. No waxing/threading/tweezing in the area for at least 4 weeks. Shaving is ok!
  6. Laser services cannot be performed on ladies who are pregnant, breastfeeding or trying to conceive.
  7. Bikini laser services will not be performed on menstruating clients.
  1. Redness & Bumps are normal.
Immediately after your treatment, redness & bumps at the treatment area are common; these may last up to 2 hours or longer. It is normal for the treated area to feel like a sunburn for a few hours. You should use a cold compress if the sensitivity continues. If there is any crusting, apply an antibiotic cream. Darker pigmented skin may have more discomfort than lighter skin & may persist longer.
  2. Cleanse the area treated gently.
The treated area may be washed gently with a mild soap. Skin should be patted dry & not rubbed during the first 48 hours.
  3. No makeup & lotion/moisturizer/deodorant for the first 24 hours.
Keep the treated area clean & dry, if further redness or irritation persists, skip your makeup & moisturizer, & deodorant (for underarms) until the irritation has subsided.
  4. Dead hairs will begin to shed 5-30 days after your treatment.
Stubble, representing dead hair being shed from the hair follicle, will appear within 5-30 days from the treatment date. that is normal & they will fall out quickly.
  5. Exfoliate to speed up hair shedding.
Anywhere from 5-30 days after the treatment, shedding of the hair may occur & this may appear as new hair growth. It is not new hair growth, but the dead hair pushing its way out of the follicle. You can help the hair come out by washing with a washcloth.
  6. Avoid the sun.
Avoid sun exposure to reduce the chance of dark or light spots for 2 months. Use sunscreen (spf 30 or higher) at all times throughout the treatment period & for 1-2 months following.
  7. Do not pick/scratch/wax/thread/tweeze the area.
Avoid picking or scratching the treated skin. do not use any other hair removal methods or products, other than shaving, on the treated area during the course of your laser treatments, as it will prevent you from achieving the best results.
  8. Hair growth varies.
On average, most will experience a level of hairlessness after 6-9 sessions. As hair grows back in,  it’s finer, thinner, and lighter. With each subsequent treatment, less hair grows back until eventually, hair stops growing back. Laser hair removal can drastically reduce hair growth in almost all areas, including your legs, arms, underarms, stomach, back, and neck, to name a few.
